The Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim Allehedan Endowed Scholarship and Scientific Research Fund, offered at the School of Sciences and Engineering at the American University in Cairo, aims to support talented and financially disadvantaged students from the Arab world to pursue a Ph.D. or master’s degree in science and engineering. Nationals of all Arab countries are eligible to apply.

The scholarship encourages specialised scientific research in disciplines uncommon in the Arab world and supports scientific achievements, research, and innovative cultural contributions by Arabs. The programme covers tuition, a stipend, student fees, medical services fees, a book allowance, and bus transportation.

Fellows are assigned 12 hours of academic work per week, with Ph.D. fellows required to perform 30 hours of research and teaching work. They must complete mandatory teaching assistantship training. Accepting this externally funded fellowship requires responding to reporting requests from AUC by deadlines.

The scholarships were established in 2015 by the late Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim A. Allehedan to support Arab students (men and women) in mathematics, engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, energy and petroleum, water and environment, economics, and development studies.
